CaixaBank understands sports sponsorship as a strategic communication tool that fosters cultural, social, and economic progress, in line with its foundational values of commitment to society. In this case, the bank is a pioneer in promoting women in sports and recognising women's sports as elite sports.

Currently, CaixaBank has around one hundred strategic agreements focused on promoting equality and making women visible in sports, advocating for elite women's sports, and raising awareness about the importance of diversity and equality in business and society.

A clear example is basketball. For more than 13 years, CaixaBank has been a sponsor partner of the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB) and an official sponsor of the Spanish national team, both female and male, in all categories, from the senior team to the under-16. It is also a main sponsor of the Spanish Federation of Sports for People with a Physical Disability, aiming to promote wheelchair basketball.

At the same time, the bank is sponsor for nine basketball academies in Spain and four teams in the Endesa Women’s League. Through its association with the teams, CaixaBank promotes the development of these clubs and encourages practice and promotion of basketball for its training teams and basketball schools. Through these agreements, CaixaBank fosters these teams’ participation in official competitions, as well as the organization of campus, scholarships for young athletes, and coach training.

Thanks to these agreements, the bank has been able to unite on an Endesa Women's League matchday a joint action to highlight the role of women in sports and their achievements, to coincide with Women's Day.

In the week leading up to the 25th round of the league, CaixaBank organised a series of ‘meet and greets’, conferences and round tables in La Seu d'Urgell, Girona, Salamanca and Madrid (Spain) with players and technical staff from the clubs and entities linked to women and girls to bring basketball closer to all groups and raise awareness and visibility of the importance of women's sport. At the same time, actions have been carried out on the court, such as the ‘Solidarity Basket’ (Cesta Solidaria) during the Spar Girona match, and the ‘CaixaBank Solidarity Stadium Stands’ (Grada Solidaria CaixaBank) have been organised for the matches between Spar Girona - Cadí La Seu, Perfumerias Avenida - Valencia BC and Movistar Estudiantes - Hozono Global Jairis.

It is estimated that nearly 700 people associated with local grassroots basketball teams and associations, such as the Balia Foundation or the AVIVA Foundation, were able to enjoy this action.

Social activation as the main pillar of sponsorship in 2025

CaixaBank has a very close bond with basketball, making it a benchmark sponsor in Spain. Its roots have been motivated by this social vocation that has brought elite sports closer to all types of people, whether they have a relationship with basketball, or it is their first interaction.

In 2025, the activity programme promoted by CaixaBank began in León, on the FIBA windows played by the Spanish national team. Through the ‘CaixaBank Solidarity Stadium Stands’ (Grada Solidaria CaixaBank) project, 175 members of the Juan Soñador, Auryn, Simone de Beauvoir, Valponasca, Amidown, Mensajeros de la Paz, Proyecto Convivo, San Juan de Dios, and Asprona associations have been able to take part in a unique experience alongside the new generation of young players led by Sergio Scariolo.

CaixaBank, committed to reaching every corner of Spain and its citizens, has also collaborated in recent years with the main basketball events held in the country, both professional and amateur. Proof of this is the historic commitment to the Plaza 3x3 CaixaBank circuit, the largest 3x3 basketball circuit in the street, held throughout the country since 2012, one of the leading competitions for grassroots sports that has brought together more than 60,000 players of all ages and has received more than 430,000 visitors after touring 49 Spanish cities throughout its history.

Wengage, CaixaBank's commitment to equality

Diversity, meritocracy, equal opportunities, and talent recognition are some of the pillars of CaixaBank's corporate culture. Under these premises, the bank is committed to be a referent for its employees, fostering inclusion and participation and driving projects that promote equality both within the company and in society. In fact, CaixaBank has more than 43% of women in managerial positions and 40% of women on its Board of Directors.

CaixaBank has the Wengage diversity programme, a transversal project developed by people from all areas of the bank based on meritocracy and equal opportunities promotion, working to foster and visualise diversity in all its dimensions.

Wengage includes internal measures to involve and raise awareness among all people about the value of diversity, to promote flexibility and work-life balance, and to reinforce the role of women, through shortlists in internal promotion processes and female mentoring plans. Additionally, CaixaBank is the first company in Spain to obtain the AENOR certification for its mentoring program.

Externally, Wengage also develops initiatives for clients and society, based on promoting diversity in four areas of action: leadership and entrepreneurship, with the organisation of various awards and recognitions for female business leadership (CaixaBank Businesswoman Award and Autonomous Professional Woman Award); innovation and education (WONNOW Awards for academic excellence for women in STEM fields); sports (sponsorship of the women's basketball team); and rural environment (AgroBank Chair: Woman, Business, and Rural Environment, or the study of the gender gap in the agricultural sector by Closingap).

Furthermore, CaixaBank has an Equality Plan to promote the principles of equal opportunities and diversity among work teams, boost the presence of women in managerial positions, and reinforce measures to balance personal and professional life. It includes, for example, a gender perspective in executive development programs and selection and training processes, encourages teleworking and flexibility.

Thanks to this commitment, CaixaBank has achieved various recognitions in recent years, including the A-level Excellence rating in the Family-Responsible Company certificate from the Másfamilia Foundation.
