Gonzalo Gortázar reaffirms CaixaBank's commitment to Morocco on the 15th anniversary of the bank's arrival to the country

• The CEO of CaixaBank met with the Moroccan Minister of Finance, Nadia Fettah-Alaoui, as well as representatives of Moroccan companies and institutions, during his visit to Casablanca.

• The entity has offices in Casablanca, Tangier and Agadir, from where it provides services to Spanish companies already established in the country or with the prospect of entering the Moroccan market, as well as to large Moroccan companies and multinationals.

CaixaBank’s CEO, Gonzalo Gortázar, reaffirmed CaixaBank's commitment to Morocco during his visit to Casablanca,Morocco to mark the 15th anniversary of the bank's presence in the North African country. During his visit, Gortázar met with the Moroccan Minister of Finance, Nadia Fettah-Alaoui, representatives of companies and financial institutions present in Morocco, and met with the team at the CaixaBank branch in Casablanca.

CaixaBank has had a banking licence in Morocco since 2009 and has three branches in the country: Casablanca (2009), Tangiers (2014) and Agadir (2017), which offer foreign trade, business banking and corporate banking services to Spanish companies already established in the country or with the prospect of entering the Moroccan market, as well as to large Moroccan companies and multinationals.

CaixaBank has become the preferred bank for Spanish companies with a presence in Morocco. According to ICEX data, around 60% of the 800 Spanish companies operating in the country are clients of the bank's branch in Morocco.

Gonzalo Gortázar also participated in an event with the main Moroccan companies, organised by the Tanja Foundation, where he pointed out that ‘the transformation that Morocco has undergone in recent years, with great progress in its economic development, political and business stability, gives us the confidence to continue to be firmly committed to the country as an economic hub in the region, and encourages us to continue investing in the area’.

The sectors in which CaixaBank’s CEO sees the greatest opportunities for the future in Morocco include energy and the environment, especially collaboration in renewable energy and environmental projects; infrastructure; transport; water resources; sustainable agriculture; sustainable tourism, digital services and the World Cup 2030, as a catalyst for many future investments.

CaixaBank's International Banking is the only international network of a Spanish bank certified by AENOR.
