CaixaBank has set up a support plan for those affected by the DANA (High-Altitude Isolated Depression) that has affected various regions in Spain, especially the Valencian Community, but also Castilla-La Mancha and Andalusia. The cold drop has caused the loss of numerous human lives, as well as substantial material losses and significant damage to infrastructures.
Measures for individuals and the self-employed: advances and moratoriums on loans
CaixaBank has made available a line of financing at 0% interest for individuals and the self-employed affected by the DANA in the Valencian Community, Castilla-La Mancha and Andalusia as an advance on aid for their immediate needs.
It has also activated the loan payment moratorium for affected customers to help reduce financial pressure and support recovery efforts. The measure consists of the temporary suspension of the repayment of financial installments of loans to individuals, self-employed, small businesses and microenterprises located in the areas declared as catastrophe zone for a period that can be extended up to 12 months (up to three months of total grace period, with an option of up to nine months of capital grace period, paying interest only).
On the other hand, to help customers avoid travel, the financial institution allows cash withdrawals without fees to customers with cards from other banks at the 785 CaixaBank ATMs in the province of Valencia.
Advance payments from insurers and streamlining procedures
The entity is also anticipating the payment of compensation from insurance companies, so that the affected people can begin to repair the damage caused by the floods to their homes and/or vehicles until the aid from the Insurance Compensation Consortium arrives.
Besides, SegurCaixa Adeslas has enabled an exclusive telephone line (900 103 500) to expedite contact with the insurer. In the case of insured persons who need support, it will facilitate the management of consortium claims, opening the file with the Insurance Compensation Consortium (CCS, in Spanish) to speed up the processing and help the management of claims for those insured.
Measures for businesses and companies
For companies affected by the DANA, CaixaBank has enabled an extraordinary line of financing worth more than €2.5 billion for companies in the Valencian Community; and more than €650 million for those in Castilla-La Mancha.
These lines are complemented by another line of extraordinary financing that has been enabled by MicroBank, CaixaBank's social bank, to guarantee the continuity of the activity of the self-employed and small businesses with a turnover of up to €2 million and fewer than ten employees, with a maximum amount of €50,000 to be paid in 72 months.
To all this must be added the automatic renewal of the maturities in the current credit lines of the affected self-employed and SME CaixaBank customers.
Specific measures for the agri-food sector
AgroBank, CaixaBank's business line aimed at the agri-food sector, has enabled a financing line worth more than €300 million to help where farms and crops have been damaged. This initiative also allows for the advanced pay of aid and compensations to rehabilitate the damage caused by heavy rains and storms.
In Andalusia, two provinces that have suffered the most damage: Almeria and Malaga. In Almeria, CaixaBank has enabled a line of financing worth €11.6 million aimed at cases in which farms and crops have been damaged in the municipality of El Ejido. In Malaga, the financial institution has enabled another line of financing worth €2.2 million, with the same objective, for those affected in the municipalities of Alora, Pizarra and Cártama.
Service Recovery and Mobile Branches Movement
The bank, which has an extensive network of branches in the territories affected by the storm, has worked intensely to offer its customers service as soon as possible. From the start of the floods, especially in the Valencian Community, most of the branch network has remained in service. Likewise, most of CaixaBank's ATMs are operational, including some located in severely affected areas, such as Chiva, Picaña, Alaquàs, Buñol, Requena, Utiel, Castellar, Turís and Guadassuar, among others.
In order to provide coverage in places where service cannot be offered in branches, the bank has activated several mobile branches. These are vehicles equipped for the provision of essential banking services, such as cash withdrawals, advance requests, loan moratorium management or insurance processing. This has made it possible to offer service to customers in towns such as Algemesí, Benetússer, Paiporta, Aldaia and Albal.
Volunteering, donation platform and surplus materials
CaixaBank Volunteers is offering its help in the municipalities that have been most affected by the DANA, collaborating in road cleaning and restoration work to try to return the situation to normal as soon as possible.
CaixaBank has also set up a platform to collect donations for emergencies, accessible from CaixaBankNow and ATMs, which facilitates the collection of financial donations in support of the victims, without the need to be a bank customer, in an agile and simple way.
Any customer can also make their contribution to the care of those affected by the DANA through the branch network; the entity's portal, www.caixabank.es; the digital, web and mobile banking service; the network of ATMs throughout Spain, as well as through Bizum. You can choose between sending a donation to the Spanish Red Cross (Bizum code 04057) and Cáritas Diocesana de Valencia (Bizum code 10502).
CaixaBank has also made its ReUtilízame (ReUseMe) programme available to social entities in the Valencian Community that may need it, which promotes the donation of surplus materials in good condition by companies.
